Obi Wan Kenobi has been an important person to the Star Wars community since 1977, and will finally be getting a show of his own May 27. People who are willing to watch Kenobi, played by Ewan McGregor should be aware of these five things before watching

Who is Obi Wan Kenobi?  Obi Wan Kenobi was a mentor to Luke Skywalker

Obi Wan Kenobi first debuted May 25, 1977, and was played by Alec Guinness, first seen in “Star Wars: A New Hope.” Obi Wan is an elderly man living in the middle of Tatooine alone with only his thoughts to keep him company. Obi Wan becomes a mentor to Luke Skywalker in “A New Hope”.

Before Obi Wan lived alone on Tatooine, he grew up learning the arts of the Jedi. Losing friends and family later on through his life, he fought for what he believed in until the end of his lifetime.

Qui Gon Jinn and Darth Maul

Qui Gon Jinn was Obi Wan’s mentor who is rumored to appear at some point in Kenobi. He was like a father to Obi Wan. Teaching Obi Wan everything that he knew, up until his tragic death brought upon him by Darth Maul, his vowed mortal enemy.

Darth Maul killed Obi Wan’s master and a few others close to him. Maul came to a fulfilling end with his greatest foe, who is rumored to appear in Kenobi. During Star Wars Rebels Darth Maul went to look for Obi Wan in the dunes of Tatooine.

The padawans

Anakin Skywalker has been a part of Obi Wans’ life ever since “Star Wars: A Phantom Menace”. when he was nine years old. Then, Ahsoka Tano came into the mix as Anakin’s padawan, in other words his student, the three became an inseparable trio of chaos throughout Star Wars Clone Wars.

The trio worked together until the day Ahsoka left the Jedi Order. Still working together in the final season of Clone Wars, they were not together for long but it was a reunion that viewers anticipated.

Clones to Order 66

Clones were built in the beginning of the clone wars and they were the downfall of the Jedi and everyone in the Republic and the Separatists. The clones fought until the end and continued to fight after the empire took over.

Order 66 was the purge of all jedi and force sensitive beings and  is what drove Obi Wan to live on Tatooine. When Anakin became Darth Vader having to fight Obi Wan on a lava planet, then fully transforming into Darth Vader after having to get prosthetics. From friends to brothers to enemies in the span of three movies.

 The Inquisitors

The inquisitors are supposed to be the main villains in Kenobi who come from all around the galaxy.  There are about three inquisitors, with glimpses of a fourth inquisitor.

The grand inquisitor, played by Rupert Friend in Kenobi and was first introduced in “Star Wars Rebels” voiced by Jason Issacs. He was a cold hearted force user who hunted down the main group of rebels. He was the first true inquisitor that was “made” through the sith and  in the season finale of “Star Wars Rebels”.

The fifth brother played by Sung Kang was also portrayed first in “Star Wars Rebels” voiced by Philip Anthony-Rodriguez. The fifth brother was a gray skinned humanoid that followed the way of the dark side, following the ways of the grand inquisitor and to be the best inquisitor in his time but died in the finale of “Star Wars Rebels” season two.

The third sister is played by Moses Ingram. We have not seen much of her in the Star Wars media up until now. We can infer from what we have seen that she seems to be one of the main inquisitors that we see throughout Kenobi.

Be sure to look out for Kenobi on Disney+ May 27, 2022.
