Oktoberfest is the world’s largest celebration originating in Munich, Germany, in 1810. Although this celebration features consumption of alcoholic beverages, Buena was able to bring a school appropriate version to campus. The first Oktoberfest was a celebration of the marriage of Prince Ludwig I and Princess Therese of Bavaria, strengthening the newly founded kingdom through the marriage. Oktoberfest has been celebrated every year since, lasting approximately 16 days and ending the first Sunday of October.

The German club, responsible for most planning of the celebration, held their planning meeting on Tuesday, October 18. Students assigned roles in helping organize the event, ranging from things such as preparing plates of food to hosting traditional Oktoberfest games. The event was held on Thursday, October 20.
