  • Junior Rye Howards used a Pinterest board for inspiration to create her most recent AP Art assignment. “My AP theme is dreams and our subconscious,” Howards said. “I got creative and did reality and dreams mixed together.” The piece is a girl in her bedroom but with a twist. The room is meant to show dreamlike elements and Howard added a monster under the bed to showcase recurring dreams in her art.

  • Senior Jaydn Paz based her painting off the fears of her friends and family. Because there are many phobias in the world Paz wanted to be specific with what she picked. “I knew I wanted to paint a person so when my aunt said people with their teeth falling out I thought it would be cool,” Paz said.

  • Junior Sierra Engel made her portfolio based on the dreams she has had throughout life. Due to having vivid dreams which impact her life, she believes that when illustrated they show how she views the world. “How this will turn out I am not sure as I do not know what dreams I will have in the future,” Engel said. “I am just going on the ride.”

  • Sophomore Rey Brookes created a profile to represent that the fears people have can also be beautiful. “Not every beautiful thing is safe, this piece shows depth and how scary and dark our fears can be,” Brookes said. “Then a fish that lights up with interesting colors shows up.”

  • “I know people who have been struggling with mental health and it has affected me so I decided to represent it,” Senior Lorelei Brooks said. “This painting is a self-portrait”. Brook’s theme was flowers to represent empathy and they used only primary clothes in this piece. The decision to make the shirt black was for contrast.
