As of recent trends, vintage purses have been on the rise, bringing back luxury bags from the 2000s. The majority of the wave covers vintage Coach bags with the ‘Big C’ prints and big belt buckles, ranging from all colors, leather and fabric.
[The vintage bag] trend has helped my business so much. [I thank] all the supporting girls and people who are following me and continue to come buy their dream bags from [my family’s booth]. I wouldn’t be able to keep my business running without the amazing support they give me,” runner of a vintage baggage vendor Lizbeth Aguilar said.
The majority of sales are online, with small business and ordinary customers being the main source of traction, instead of a big company. This trend is quite beneficial for communities giving a bigger impact within a single community not just around the world.
“I knew I had the opportunity to offer it to other people, and especially other young girls like me, so [I] took the opportunity because I hadn’t seen anyone else selling them locally,” Aguilar said.
In our local community, there has been a new spot to get these vintage bags. On Sundays from 7:30 a.m. –-3 p.m. in the Ventura Colleges (VC) parking lot, where the Swap Meet. The curation of vintage Coach bags filled the racks.
This gem also encourages trading vintage purses instead of just paying for a bag. Aguilar encourages bags that would be of the same apparent value with minor damage. She does not accept any bags with stains or huge tears, and prefers bags to be in the best conditions as possible.
There is more than just purses sharing the booth with vintage games, consoles, and legos with unique clothes.
However, due to the current construction of the VC parking lot, the booth is not in the usual spot as it is currently located in a separate section off to the side, being a part of the few booths that had to move during construction. To better assist confused customers, there is a sign directing others to the booth’s temporary placement.
Being one of the first in-person shops that provide the purse, it has been something a lot of locals have been wanting to see.
This online trend has overall made a huge impact on families and small businesses all throughout the world but even in our local communities within Ventura. Having this in person experience is something everyone should see and support.
