Terry Berries, located at 7618 Telephone Road in Ventura, California, is locally known as having the best strawberries around. If you’ve ever tried it, you will find these freshly grown strawberries to be juicy and sweet. Terry Berries is also located in an amazing spot, right next to Ventura Community Park (commonly known as Kimball Park). Pulling into the dirt parking lot and walking up to the storage container-like shop, there is something about it that makes you feel enchanted.
“We want our customers to have an experience. A strawberry experience, where they remember the taste, and they come back for more,” Terry Farms President said.
Terry berries began in 2003 when the company decided to branch off from Terry Farms Inc. For over 125 years, Terry Farms have been farming and growing crops in Ventura County. Terry Farms began after Joe Terry left the country of Portugal to farm in 1890. The farm is currently owned by E. Terry, J. Terry’s great-grandson, his wife Martha and their two kids, William and Alyssa.
Terry Berries sells a variety of fruits and vegetables, but they are most known for their sweet, ripe, and extravagant tasting strawberries. It’s almost like they sprinkle a mixture of magic and love into each strawberry that is freshly picked each day.
“We grow a special berry called Albion, and it’s a berry you normally won’t see in any grocery store, and it’s a great tasting berry,” E. Terry said.
Terry Berries opens seasonally from February through May.but if you’re nearby you should go there and get your own idea about terry berries. Terry berries are only open from February to around May when strawberries are in season.
“When they’re in season, we [would go at least 5 times], but we usually end up buying the huge packs,” Presley Bosch said.
A cool thing about Terry berries is that they have multiple different ways to buy the product. You can get them in a normal plastic store bought containers or a huge pallet with a bunch of different containers that could feed a family of 5. Another thing that is intriguing about Terry Berries is the experience. Something about the dirt parking lot and storage containers on a big farm makes you feel like a kid going to a pumpkin patch.
There are so different features to Terry Berries and so many amazing people that work there. All the workers are just as sweet as the strawberries, and this makes Terry Berries a classic Ventura staple.
