Season 2 of “The Pitt” was released January 8. The first season, which was released Jan. 9, 2025, won an Emmy for its outstanding acting. Now with the second season out, many people wonder, is it as good as the last one? Or is it better?
And she is 100% right. It feels great that “The Pitt” is back in the game. “The Pitt” is filled with drama, medical emergencies, plot twists, sad and happy moments and so much more. It’s honestly a little similar to the show “Grey’s Anatomy” but more accurate.
However, what makes The Pitt so great? To answer that question we have to jump into the first season of this series. To begin, the starts with Med students looking into how the ER works. The first episode is similar to a welcome, but if it was cracked out on medical emergencies.
These med students are all shadowing a doctor throughout the first season. Not only do they help by giving the doctors and nurses an extra pair of hands, but they are also there for questioning. Therefore, giving the viewer knowledge of the procedure they will be doing on the patient.
To not spoil everything, I will keep the first season lookover short, but it does get pretty hectic by the last few episodes of the season.
The new season of The Pitt is better in my opinion. It shows a lot more emotion between both staff and patients than the first season. Also the second season is more similar to “Greys Anatomy” due to the fact there is more drama with ‘Robby Micheal’ going on a trip on his motorcycle causing everyone trying to make Robby stay. Plus a resident named Dr. Langdon comes back after getting caught stealing medication from the ER in season one.
The second season also begins with the residents from season one as newly inducted doctors who are teaching new med students what to do, how to do a certain procedure, and then being questioned on what to do next. This challenged the new med. Students because they were put on the spot, for example a med. student named Joy was having lots of trouble answering questions.
“The Pitt” is a fast moving show, so when you watch it, make sure you have your snacks in your hand, drinks ready for when they are needed and no distractions before starting. Otherwise, you will be stuck with no knowledge of whatever happened in previous episodes.
What I liked most about the Pitt was they frequently used the items most times correctly. For example, the bedside ultrasound, triage tools and charting are all used correctly. The only noticeable tool they use wrong is the stethoscope because they use it backwards.
Other than the unseeable misuse of a stethoscope, “The Pitt” is a show you won’t regret watching. Like I said before, it is filled with curve balls, drama, lots of medical emergencies, and so much more. You will be filled with dopamine at the start of an episode, right up until the bittersweet ending.
