With Thanksgiving just around the corner, I want to make sure everyone at Buena has some tasty treats to bring to the holiday table. Therefore, I am here to bring you several recipes to try. From everyday stuffing to maple cream pie, and finally 7-Up biscuits, you aren’t going to want to miss these wonderful dishes.
7-Up Biscuits
We’re going to start off with a side: some hearty, comfort-food biscuits. However, there’s a twist, as these biscuits also use one of America’s favorite sodas: 7-Up. Although it sounds weird, I promise it is worth it, for these are some of the best biscuits you’ll ever taste.

You’ll need:
3 cups of Bisquick baking mix
¾ cup of sour cream
About ¾ cup 7-Up
4 tablespoons of melted butter (any good recipe needs butter)
small pinches of flour to keep your hands non-stick.
Heat your oven to 450°, line a 11×7 inch baking pan with the butter and get ready to make your biscuits. Fold together the Bisquick mix and sour cream, then add your soda until it turns into a dough texture you can handle. Pat them down to be about ½ inch tall and then use a cookie cutter to cut out some circular biscuits, lining four down the long side and three down the short side. Finally, place them in the oven, bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown on the top, then take them out, coat them with a light butter topping and voilà, some wonderful biscuits at the ready.
Homemade Stuffing
For the next dish, we’re going to be moving on to main dishes. As one of the most popular Thanksgiving dishes, homemade stuffing seemed like the way to go, so let’s dive into it.

Here’s what you’ll need:
8 cups of cubed, stale French/sourdough bread
2 cups of vegetable broth
½ cup of unsalted butter
1 medium onion, diced
1 cup of celery, chopped
¼ of fresh sage, chopped
¼ cup of fresh thyme, chopped
1 teaspoon of black pepper
Heat your oven to 350°, spread the bread cubes on a baking sheet and throw that in the oven for about 10 minutes or until crispy. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter and add your celery and onion. Sauté until translucent. In a large bowl, combine your veggies with your bread cubes, then slowly add in the vegetable broth until moist (make sure it doesn’t get soggy!). Add your herbs and pepper, transfer to a baking dish, cover with tin foil and bake for 25 minutes, then take off the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until golden brown.
Maple Cream Pie
Now that you have a side and a main course (plus turkey hopefully!), we have to get to the most important part of all: dessert. Everyone is always crazy about pumpkin pie, but may I present to you a maple cream pie! I have had this pie returning year after year in my family, as it is fantastic, and I implore you to try it.

Ingredients you’ll need:
Pastry for single-crust pie (9 inches)
¼ cup cornstarch
¼ salt
¼-¾ cup whole milk
¾ cup + 1 tbsp. Maple syrup (divided!)
2 large egg yolks, lightly beaten
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup heavy whipping cream
Sliced almonds, toasted
Preheat your oven to 450°. Line a 9-inch pie plate with the pastry and fluff the edges. Line the unpricked pastry shell with double thickness of heavy-duty foil. Bake for eight minutes, remove foil, bake for five more minutes and then cool on a wire rack. For the filling, combine cornstarch and salt in a large saucepan. Stir in ½ cup milk until smooth. Gradually stir in remaining milk and 3/4 cup maple syrup. Cook and stir over medium heat until thickened and bubbly. Reduce heat; cook and stir 2 minutes longer, then remove from heat. Stir in a small amount of hot filling into the egg yolks, then return all to the pan while continuously stirring. Bring to a gentle boil, cook and stir two minutes longer and then gently stir in the butter. Cool to room temperature without stirring.
In a chilled small bowl, beat cream on high speed until stiff peaks form. Fold 1 cup cream into cooled filling, then spoon into the crust. Fold remaining syrup into remaining cream, and frost the top of the pie with it. Refrigerate overnight, top with almonds and enjoy!
Now that you have some more ideas for this year’s Thanksgiving, I wish you happy eating and hope you try out one of these delectable recipes.
