Buena High School held its annual showcase in the gym on Monday, Nov. 17th from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Parents and students from various middle schools checked out booths for an abundance of electives, sports and clubs that teachers and students put together to advertise the school in hopes that prospective students will choose Buena High School by the end of this year.Â
As the middle schoolers and families walked through the gym doors, they were met with a grand performance from Buenaâs marching band and dance team.
The great booms from the drums filled the room, leaving families recording on their phones amazed at Buena’s marching band. The dance team’s lively performance gave a glimpse to the newcomers as to what Buenaâs school culture really is about, inviting them in to browse the various booths and food stands.
The families flooded the gym, walking to any booths that caught their interest. The current Buena students working the booths provided background of the clubs, classes and sports they were showcasing, enticing the potential Buena students in.
âI was working in the AVID booth,â sophomore Aliyah Zamarripa said. âI loved helping other students learn about the program and engaging with them and teaching them how awesome the program is.â

In addition to the booths, there were tours that ASB students guided. Every five minutes, there would be lines of people, waiting to be toured across the campus. The tours were interactive and informative to the future Buena students and eager families, giving them everything they needed to know about Buena and how their years here would be.
Not only was it an excellent event for students to learn about a potential high school they will attend, but it was definitely a great night of socializing for both Buenaâs students presenting these classes and the middle schoolers taking a peek at what theyâre like.Â
â[Buena] is a community. Everyone is super friendly towards me,â eighth grader Charles Rodriguez said.
