Dearest gentle readers, Bridgerton’s long awaited second half (hoorah!) of season four has officially been released! Although this means ending season four’s fairy tale chapter, there is a tremendous amount of gossip that needs to be talked about.
This author knows that you’ll need a box of tissues and something your sanity can grab onto.
To catch up on the prior gossip of the ton, review the recap of the first part of the Netflix season four release.
SPOILERS AHEAD…
In this four episode conclusion, Benedict Bridgerton’s (Luke Thompson) love for Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha) grew stronger everyday. Though he knew they could not be together due to strict societal standards, his love for her protested that.
As the episodes grew longer and longer, their relationship was never absent. Throughout the course of those four episodes, viewers got to watch their love story fall into line and their official wedding in the post credit scene of the last episode – a first for the Bridgerton fans.
Meanwhile, Violet Bridgerton (Ruth Gemell) and Lord Marcus Anderson (Daniel Francis) settle things and decide to get engaged in secret, further encasing their relationship a little more prominently. Unfortunately, this engagement was called off by Violet in the last episode as a result of her desire for independence and care for her children.
In episode six, the emotional aspects came at full blast. One of the most unexpected plot twists: the death of the Earl of Kilmartin, John Stirling (Victor Alli). This left his wife, Francesca Bridgerton (Hannah Dodd), surrounded by family, yet still alone and in mourning.
In the midst of this, Penelope Bridgerton (Nicola Coughlan) officially retires from her authorship as Lady Whistledown. Everyone is displeased, especially the Queen (Golda Rosheuvel). For whom will she get her gossip from? Yet, in the last episode, there was a sneak peak into a new regeneration of Lady Whistledown. No name has been officially revealed, but it’s sure to be said that this ton cannot live without gossip.

REVIEW
Bridgerton never disappoints. I don’t know what type of drug is in it, but it’s truly so addicting. I believe I did not get up from my couch for five hours straight.
I am so glad that Benedict and Sophie had gotten the story line that they did. I feel as if it was the utmost perfect fit. The most joyous thing: Benedict finally gave up his foolishness and settled down with his ideal woman!
I was jumping for joy when Benedict started piecing together that she was the woman in silver, as it should’ve happened long ago. I didn’t really like how they incorporated Sophie going to jail and the whole trial thing. I felt as if it was unnecessary and it took away from Benedict solving everything out.
Now to address the big elephant in the room: Why did they kill off John Stirling? Shock ran through my whole body when I heard Francesca scream. Never have I ever mourned so much over a character.

In future story lines, I am wondering what will happen with Francesca, as there’s so many things that have been left open with her. There was obviously chemistry between Michaela Stirling (Masali Baduza), yet it’s indefinite to what will truly happen. Though she says in the post credit scene that she will not marry, I still am intrigued on what the writers will give in season five for that.
There are also two other Bridgerton women’s story lines I’m eerily fascinated with. One, Violet. After her calling off the engagement with Lord Marcus Anderson, will the writers strive for them or leave it be?
The next, Eloise. She was highlighted greatly in this season, pointing always towards the theme of marriage. I would be at a loss for words if next season she will find love. She’s one of my favorite characters, so I would be happy, yet it would just be interesting, regarding her spinster qualities.
Although I did like this half, I believe the first half was the better one. There was something about it that made it truly magnificent, I don’t know whether it was the chemistry or all of the subplots. However, don’t get me wrong, I loved the ending and almost everything that happened.
Personally, I cannot wait for the story to continue. I’m so excited to find out what next season will be like and who will be showcasing it. There is no expected date, only estimated between 2027-2028. For now, until next time!
