On Feb. 13, 2026, CAVA opened on 1788 S. Victoria Ave, in Ventura, Calif.. This new establishment serves Mediterranean food like bowls or pita wraps. Customers can even build their own bowl. They have multiple choices of different arrangements of foods like meats, vegetables, sauces and rice.
Walking in,the environment was very welcoming with bright colors and many people inside. There wasn’t that much seating, maybe a few tables, but it was still very nice. Although, if your in a rush be sure to be cautious of how busy it can get since ordering could be slow.
I ordered a build-your-own bowl that has a base of lettuce, steak, corn, cucumber, avocado and some different types of sauces. I also ordered some classic pita chips. All of the food was very fresh for a fast food restaurant. I was very surprised.
“[CAVA] was very fresh, tasty, and healthy, which I liked,” Buena sophomore Samuel Rocha said.
The bowl was good, but I think it could have been better. Honestly, I didn’t enjoy the sauce choices I made. I think without the sauces the bowl could have been way better. However, even with the sauces, the food was still very good , the was steak delightful even the veggies were outstanding and super fresh.
The best part about the meal was the pita chips. They were very soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. The classic pita chips just had some salt on them, and it was very good. I also tried the sumac sour and cream pita chips, and they were even better than the classic ones. The seasonings were very good and matched well with the meal. I would definitely recommend getting the sumac pita chips.
During the ordering process, the service was good. The workers making my food were very patient while I ordered since it was my first time at the restaurant. In my opinion, the food was a little over priced since what my order totalled for just the bowl and the classic pita chips.
“I was blown away by how good the food was! Also the workers were really nice and helpful with helping me order!” Google reviewer JD said.
Overall, I would recommend CAVA as a place to eat if you want to be a little healthier and don’t have the opportunity to make food at home. However, just be cautious of the price or the wait – it could be long.
