Senior Nicolas Faught is preparing to take his final bow as Kristoff in Buena High School Theatre’s production of “Frozen: The Musical”. This standout performance is just one of many achievements that highlight his time on campus, where he has made a lasting impact as a well rounded and dedicated Bulldog.
Throughout his four years at Buena, Faught has shared his talents and hard work in many programs like playing football all four years of high school, being the vice president of the Black Student Union club (BSU), joining choir his senior year, taking drama his freshman and senior year, being lead roles in both musicals he has done playing Captain Von Trapp in “The Sound of Music” his junior year, and the Kristoff in “Frozen” role he is playing now as a senior.
Additionally, Faught ran track his junior year, played baseball his sophomore year, and has been in Associated Student Body (ASB) for three years, now serving as vice president.
Faught had a hard time picking which of these accomplishments are his favorite because they have given him so much meaning and all activities have helped him get through his years, making so many more friends and memories he may not have been able to find or have without it.
However, Faught did recollect that football was his favorite because it has made him into who he is today and who he wants to continue to be.
“I loved being a part of the team with the guys I was playing with, and I had coaches that… believe that I could be better,” Faught said.
One place that has his heart is the theatre. After graduation, the stage is what Faught hopes to major in as he takes his next step in life in wanting to become an actor and a filmmaker some day.
“I am trying to find opportunities to get my name out there, like acting wise… and just kinda work on short films [here at school],” Faught said.
Senior Tegan Farnsworth, playing Elsa in the production of Frozen, loves working in productions with Faught and explains how he brings so much work effort to the table every day. If there is a problem there is always a way around it for him. Giving energy within every one of his performances and rehearsals makes him a key aspect of productions.
“I think he genuinely is a key aspect of our production, to keep it flowing with high energy and good vibes,” Farnsworth said.
Theatre director Molly Ensminger has many good things to say about Faught, being seen as a big part of this production, being very inspirational and doing wonderful every chance he is given.
“I never have to worry about him and what his motivations are or anything like that. He is just an all-around good person,” Ensminger said.
Last, but not least in his heart, is ASB which is a second family to Faught, leaving him feeling confident knowing that every time he steps in that class everyone has each other’s back.
“ASB is just like a separate family. I can’t explain how many really good memories I have with all the people and how everyone has each other’s back, and it just feels like we’re all connected in lots of ways,” Faught said.
