When thinking about the Mormon religion, many think about the show “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.” At the recent Hulu event “Get Real House” on April 22, 2026, the cast of the “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” made a big announcement stating that the show has expanded into Orange County and that there will be a “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives OC”.
At the time of the announcement, many were happy the show planned to expand and the religion is being spread, but when looking deeper into the cast members, some are sceptical that the cast follows the Mormon religion, as some of these cast members do not follow religion, rules, or have not applied themselves in the religion until very recently.
Obviously, the TV and show business is something that can bring in a lot of money for many which is helpful in today’s economy, but many TikTok influencers have strong opinions on this due to the fact that a religion is now being treated like a business.
In a recent video, TikTok influencer Ally Puntam talks about the news that has been shared regarding the new show coming out.
“I totally understand getting your bag and wanting to support your family,” Puntam said.
She brings up the TV show causing a cosplay feeling to the religion, as she has grown up Mormon and knows from what is right and what is wrong, speaking on the fact that as a child she had a hard time expressing this religion due to the stereotypes it gave off to others who didn’t understand the religion as much as she did.
“Now it feels like a trend… I think the show could actually do a lot of good if it was actually truly about following women around who are either members of the church or have been members, what it looks like as a mom and as a woman,” Puntam said.
She feels like the plot has been lost with the spin off introducing people who aren’t members of the church, and so many others in the comments of the video and online in general agreeing with the fact that it is unfair and not right to put something out there and not show what the actual intention it was supposed to give.
“I think it is clickbait. Why put a religion in the title if you’re not going to follow through with the cast members of the show,” junior Brielle Zenteno said.
Which just leads to the ultimate question of will MomTok survive the amount of harsh feedback being given before the show has even been released?
