Starting the 2025-2026 NFL season, there were 32 certified head coaches for all teams. Now at the end of the regular season, there’s only 24 certified NFL head coaches for the 2026-2027 NFL season. Eight NFL teams have fired their head coaches through the regular season: Titans, Giants, Raiders, Cardinals, Browns, Falcons, Ravens and Dolphins.
Brian Callahan was the Tennessee Titans head coach for about two seasons but was fired Oct. 13, 2025. During his time coaching the Titans, he had a 4-19 record which fans believe to be the reason he was fired since he failed to win many games for his team.
Brian Doball was fired from the head coach job of the New York Giants on Nov. 10, 2025 after going 20-40-1 record during his four years with the franchise. Much like Callahan, some speculate he was also fired for his lack of wins during his time with the Giants.
“I think [the Giants] should have kept [Doball] for the remainder of the season to see how it would have turned out,” NFL enthusiast and sophomore Chava Perez said.
Pete Carroll was the Las Vegas Raiders head coach for only one season, as he was fired on Jan. 5, 2026. During his time with the team, their record was 3-14.
Jonathan Gannon was also fired Jan. 5, 2026 from the head coach position of the Arizona Cardinals after four seasons with the franchise with a record of 15-36. Like all of the previous coaches mentioned, speculations have arisen about his inability to coach his team to the win.
Kevin Stefanski was fired on Jan. 5, 2026, just like Carroll and Gannon. He was the Cleveland Browns’ head coach for six seasons, and his record with the team was 45-56.
Raheem Morris, the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons was again fired on Jan. 5, 2026 like the previous coaches. He was with the team for two seasons and had a record of 16-18. I feel that he was fired for his poor decisions as head coach and his lack of winning. He signed Kirk Cousins to a four year 200 million dollar contract and also drafted a quarterback in the first round of the 2024 draft, Micheal Penix Jr., which many fans calculate as a poor decision.
John Harbaugh was fired on Jan. 6 2026. He was the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens for 18 seasons and had a 180-118 record with the team, bringing the team a Super Bowl win. However, during the last few seasons, fans believe he hasn’t been able to prove himself and his team in the playoffs, even with his history and wins with the team. I don’t personally agree with this decision since we have seen that he can win in the playoffs with his Super Bowl win, but this move could get the Ravens to the next Super Bowl they have been striving for.
Lastly, Mike McDaniel was fired from the Miami Dolphins on Jan. 8 2026 after four seasons with the franchise and a record of 35-33. I think this is a good decision to fire McDaniel since they haven’t been able to get far in the playoffs with two appearances, and a new coach might be just what the Dolphins need to get themselves a real Super Bowl chance.
As of this article being posted, the New York Giants have signed John Harbaugh too replace Brian Doball as their new head coach. In addition, Jeff Hafley has been fired to replace Mike Mcdaniel for the Miami Dolphins as their new head coach. Lastly Robert Salah former San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator is signed as the new Tennessee Titans head coach.
